Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves brings Christmas early with its color edit mode
In an age where game companies like to milk their audiences for cosmetics, it’s refreshing to see that SNK Corporation’s upcoming Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will have a Color Edit mode that allows players to customize their fighters the way they want to. Unveiled in the game’s official trailer, Color Edit features tons of outfits, gear, patterns, and more – all of which can be mixed and matched. SNK’s fighter games haven’t seen a free color picking mode since 2010’s King of Fighters XIII – and the sudden comeback is more than welcome.
Each character’s body parts (hair, eyes, and skin) can have their colors swapped depending on the player’s preference. Things get more exciting when it comes to outfits, as textures, colors, and their corresponding features can be managed to their minute details. Players will still need to obtain alternate character outfits, but once these are unlocked, Color Edit mode will allow for the sprucing (or butchering) of these threads.
The Fatal Fury franchise is no stranger to alternate colors and outfits, but the robustness of City of the Wolves’ Color Edit mode caught many off-guard. Much like how the Tekken franchise has a ton of customization options and outfits, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ Color Edit mode will allow for more player expression apart from choosing how to beat down opponents.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves releases April 22, 2025 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
