South Korean developer NEOWIZ announced that the Steam store and community page for Brown Dust 2 have become inaccessible as of December 6. As reported by Game*Spark, the Steam store page “disappeared” around 10 days before the game’s scheduled launch date.
Brown Dust 2 is a 2D “full burst” turn-based RPG, originally released for mobile in 2023. With its 2.5th anniversary right around the corner, the game was planned to come to PC via Steam on December 15. The PC port of the game seemed to be in high demand, given that its number of Steam Wishlists reached 200,000 on December 4. However, only a couple days later, players started reporting that they couldn’t find the game on the platform anymore.
Referring to the issue as a “temporary restriction” via an official announcement, the publisher says it’s “in communication with Steam and is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.” At the time of writing, the Steam page still remains delisted, and it is yet to be seen if this will have any impact on the game’s release date.
Steam delistings have become much more frequent after the revision of the platform’s guidelines this summer, and many games featuring “adult content” have been unsuccessful in returning to the platform in their original forms (or, at all). As listed on Brown Dust 2’s official website, the game is rated PEGI 18, with warnings for sexual content and in-game purchases. While there hasn’t been any official explanation, it is likely that the game was removed from the platform due to its suggestive content. The game also might have been removed due to the developers’ attempt to boost Wishlists via a reward system, which is something Valve wouldn’t be so happy about. Given that Valve’s review process can be rather slow, there is a possibility that NEOWIZ won’t be able to get the game’s Steam page up in time for the scheduled launch. The development team stated that they would share another update regarding the situation as soon as there is more information or any progress to report.
