EVO Japan 2025 announces game lineup and early sign-ups

Fighting game fans have another thing to look forward to before 2024 is over, as Evolution Championship Series (EVO) Japan recently announced its game lineup and early sign-ups for EVO Japan 2025. Set to take place from May 9 to 11 at Tokyo Big Sight East Hall 2 and 3, EVO Japan 2025 will feature 7 games and tons of players aiming to be the best at their respective titles.

First things first: EVO Japan 2025 will include 5 one-on-one and 2 five-on-five fighting games. Falling under the one-on-one category are Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, The King of Fighters XV, and Guilty Gear Strive. The two titles under the five-on-five category will be Street Fighter III: Third Strike and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O, with the latter replacing Under Night In-Birth II [Sys:Celes] from this year’s EVO Japan 2024.

Those looking to participate or watch EVO Japan 2025 can avail an early bird discount on the official EVO Japan website from now until January 27, 2025 at 11:59 Japan Standard Time (JST). Tickets and sign-ups will still be available until April 7, 2025 at 11:59 JST, but those buying after January 27 will have to pay the full admission or participation price.

EVO and EVO Japan are great opportunities for fighting game fans to come together and celebrate their love of the genre. Since both events are open tournaments, this allows anyone to potentially make a name for themselves as they fight against some of the best players around the world. EVO Japan usually has more Japanese players, but it is nonetheless an important annual event for the fighting game community.
