Dynasty Warriors: Origins post-launch updates and future DLC: What to expect?
Dynasty Warriors: Origins’ release is right around the corner, with the standard edition scheduled to launch on January 17, and the early access version becoming playable starting January 14. In a recent pre-launch interview with Dengeki Online, the development team’s key members talked about what players can expect in terms of future changes, updates and DLC.
Improvements based on player feedback
According to Dynasty Warriors: Origins director Mitsuhiro Oshima, Omega Force is planning to release updates for the game that will most likely arrive within a few days following launch. This will include improvements based on feedback received from players of Origin’s demo version. Some specific changes Oshima mentions include adding settings meant to improve the controlled character’s visibility, as well as reassigning the key for calling your horse. Currently, pressing down the left stick allows you to summon your horse, but this has resulted in players frequently calling and mounting their horses by mistake. Thus, this action will be assigned to a different key or made to require a long press.
In addition, Oshima mentions adding key configurations for Origins’ PC version, as well as adjustments to the upper limit for camera speed. The game’s defeat animation will be shortened and made immediately skippable so that players can get back to the game more quickly.
Will Dynasty Warriors: Origins be getting DLC?
As for DLC, Omega Force’s leader Sho Tomohiko comments that Dynasty Warriors: Origins was originally created without DLC in mind, as it’s meant to be a complete experience on its own. On the other hand, he mentions that if players expressed a wish for more, the team would be more than happy to put out DLC, and they even have an idea of what they would go for.
A potential DLC for Dynasty Warriors: Origins would delve into the period up until The Battle of Red Cliffs, Sho says. On the other hand, if Omega Force were to make a proper sequel (which is purely hypothetical at this point, the director stresses), it would be set in the period following the events of Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is scheduled to launch on January 17 for the PC (Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
