Dynasty Warriors: Origins dominates Steam rankings in Japan
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is only out in early access, but it’s already making waves throughout the gaming world. As of January 14, Omega Force’s upcoming reboot has become the top-selling game on Steam in Japan, followed by Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds and Grinding Gear Games’ Path of Exile 2 in the second and third places respectively. Dynasty Warriors: Origins is currently also the second top-selling game on Steam’s worldwide rankings.
The high sales of Dynasty Warriors: Origins on Steam can be attributed to a few factors. The free demo allows players to play a sizeable chunk of the game at no cost, while the Digital Deluxe edition lets early purchasers play the game 72 hours ahead of the official release. Dynasty Warriors: Origins currently has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, with players praising the gameplay and story while criticizing its lack of co-op and the exclusion of classic characters like Wang Yuanji (who is yet to be born in the game’s timeline).
Omega Force already has post-launch updates planned up for Dynasty Warriors: Origins, which includes additional settings like button remapping, shorter death animations, and more freedom over camera speed. While the game was initially made without DLC in mind, requests for more content could push the developers to appease fans with a Battle of Red Cliffs-themed DLC.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is scheduled to launch on January 17 for the PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
