Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO Xbox players report waiting for hours to get into ranked matches
Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO has been enjoying a massively successful release – selling 3 million copies worldwide in only 24 hours. However, Xbox players from all over the world have been reporting sluggish matchmaking that’s causing them to wait for hours to participate in the game’s ranked online matches.
Many of these reports come from Japan, where some players believe that the cause of the issue lies in the Xbox servers being sparsely populated (as Sparking Zero does not support crossplay between consoles nor between consoles and PC). As a result, there have even been instances of Japanese players purchasing PS5s solely to play the new Dragon Ball game.
However, with reports of the Xbox version’s matchmaking issues continuing from the Early Access Launch period well into post-release, it’s possible that the problem Xbox players are experiencing is being caused by problems with Sparking Zero’s infrastructure. It might be worth noting that Bandai Namco’s Naruto x Boruto fighting game from last year suffered from similar issues on the Xbox Series X❘S and Xbox One at launch. This was subsequently addressed by the publisher with a patch that updated the game’s matchmaking system. Perhaps Xbox players of Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero can also expect an improvement in the following days.
Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam).
