Doki Doki Literature Club! releases for free on mobile; content from expanded edition available as DLC

Doki Doki Literature Club! launches for free for Android and iOS devices. Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! can be purchased as DLC.

After disturbing PC and console players for more than eight years, psychological horror visual novel Doki Doki Literature Club! has finally hit Android and iOS devices. The entire base game is free, while the additional content included in Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! (an expanded edition that was released in 2021 for consoles and PC) can be purchased for $9.99 USD.

Created by American indie studio Team Salvato, Doki Doki Literature Club! is a dark twist on traditional anime dating simulators. Featuring four literature club girls: the girl-next-door Sayori, the aggressive Natsuki, the timid Yuri, and the ever-present Monika, players experience a high school life unlike any other.

As with the PC version, upgrading to Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! will unlock six new side stories, over 100 unlockable images, 26 music tracks (13 of which are new songs created by Nikki Kaelar in collaboration with guests Jason Hayes and Azuria Sky), and a customizable in-game music player.

To commemorate the game’s mobile launch, publisher Serenity Forge has announced a mobile accessories bundle, which includes an acrylic phone standee of Monika, five transparent photo cards, an adhesive phone pocket to hold said cards, and a microfiber cloth to wipe off any spit takes you might have while playing the game.

Lastly, a set of four animated emojis and two stickers has been made available as a free download on the official Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! webpage. These GIFs showcase subtle references to the game. By using them, you too can become a person of culture.

Doki Doki Literature Club! is available on macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. An expanded version, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!, is available on macOS, Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
