Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy 15-inspired action RPG Lost Soul Aside to release in 2025
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that Ultizero Games’ action RPG Lost Soul Aside will be coming out in 2025 for PC and PS5. A new trailer for the game was also revealed.
Lost Soul Aside is an open world, action RPG. It is set in a fantasy world still recovering from a devastating war 10 years ago and overrun with monsters. As protagonist Kazar, you must set out on an epic adventure to save your sister, unleashing dynamic, lightning-fast attacks and combos against all the monsters that stand in your way.
The developer has previously revealed that Lost Soul Aside was influenced by Final Fantasy XV. Indeed, the protagonist Kazar bears a striking resemblance to Final Fantasy XV’s main character Noctis. However, the gameplay shown in the trailer is reminiscent of Devil May Cry, with Kazar’s fast and stylish slashes, abilities and combos resembling Dante and other DMC main characters’ effortless-looking swordplay. The latest trailer also introduces a female character who seems to be able to fight alongside Kazar. It will be interesting to see what effect her presence has on both the story and gameplay.
Lost Soul Aside started out as the personal project of Chinese indie developer Bing Yang, with the initial trailer releasing all the way back in 2016 and attracting much attention. Yang was subsequently chosen to receive support from the China Hero Project and founded Ultizero Games to continue work on Lost Soul Aside.
The upcoming action RPG has been 9 years in the making. In that time, the action RPG genre has undergone many changes. In light of this, it will be interesting to see what kind of experience Lost Souls Aside will offer.
Lost Soul Aside is scheduled to be released for PS5 and PC (Steam) in 2025. The game was originally planned for PS4, however from the trailer, it seems Lost Soul Aside will be coming to PS5 instead.
