Cygames founding member Yuito Kimura has announced via X that he is stepping down from his position as executive director, effective immediately. Kimura cites health-related issues as the reason for his resignation.
While Kimura’s condition isn’t life-threatening, he explained that his current state has made it difficult for him to carry out his duties at full capacity. In addition to being a founding member and executive of Cygames, Kimura also served as producer on several titles, including Rage of Bahamut, Granblue Fantasy (a role he stepped down from last year), the Granblue Fantasy: Versus games, as well as the studio’s latest project, Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond.
After expressing his gratitude to Cygames fans for their continued support, Kimura said his main focus will be on recovery. He hopes to return to game production once his health improves.
In a separate official statement, Cygames thanked Kimura for his many contributions and assured fans that his responsibilities are being smoothly handed over to the executive team.
