Capcom prices Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess affordably, but it has the volume of a full price game, devs say
Capcomâs Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess was announced for a July 19 release. The new action-strategy game has a mid-range price of $49.99 in the US, and an even lower (converted) price of $31.01 in Japan. In a recent joint media interview (reported on by our Japanese sister-site), Kunitsu-Gami’s director Shuichi Kawata and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi shared details about the gameâs concept and development, including the reasoning behind its pricing.Â
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a brand-new IP from Capcom. Officially described as a âKagura Action Strategy game,â the title blends real-time tower defense strategy mechanics with action gameplay. The worldbuilding and creatures are inspired by traditional Japanese folklore. As the protagonist Soh, you fight to protect the maiden Yoshino and purge the villages of Mt. Kafuku from the defilement that corrupts them.
Commenting on the upcoming title’s price and volume, Hirabayashi remarks, âit will take no less than 20 hours just to clear the story. Then, of course, there will also be missions and challenges to clear after completing the story, so I think the volume of the game is comparable to that of a full priced title.âÂ
The producer goes on to explain that with the game being a completely new endeavor for Capcom, they tried to make the game as affordable as they could in the hope of encouraging as many players as possible to give it a try.Â
In addition, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is intended to be played and enjoyed as is, with no plans for additional DLC to be released down the line.Â
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is scheduled to launch on July 19 for the PC (Steam/Windows), PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S (including an Xbox Game Pass release). The demo version is available as of today.Â
I played through the demo and was pleasantly surprised by the gameplay that I pre orderedi
immediately. It’s very interesting to create a Moving Tower Defense Action Strategy Game but also have forces to defend and do other things in areas. The controls, the camera and even the game are on solid foundation.
But it also has a good Stylistic presentation that captures the culture of ancient Japanese civilization and to have the home base look like a miniature camera looking upon the land it’s characters and Animals . It’s very expressive and captivating. Can not recommend it enough.
