Blue Archive’s producer wants players to have a stress-free time enjoying the characters, which is why endgame content updates will be kept moderate

Blue Archive’s producer Yong-Ha Kim recently gave a lecture to game developers. During a subsequent Q&A session, the creator offered insights into his policy regarding the Nexon title’s development, including his views on the frequency and difficulty level of endgame content updates. The lecture was reported on dcinside and other Korean portals.

On the way to celebrating its 3.5-year anniversary, Blue Archive’s success so far suggests an equally bright future. But what can players expect from the game in the coming period? Kim explains that, as the team’s resources are limited, he makes sure to plan at least one to two years of development ahead. The developers prioritize the scenario and characters above all, but are also keen on expanding Blue Archive’s endgame content.

However, Kim is wary of coming on too strongly with endgame content, as he is concerned that making things too challenging for players will lead to Blue Archive losing its essence, which is the characters and the affection players have for them. As a specific example, Kim mentions that the team received mixed opinions regarding the difficulty of the Great Decisive Battle implemented since last June. Bearing this in mind, Kim intends to carefully plan and implement two to three pieces of endgame content per year.

The producer acknowledges the existence of both “light” and “hardcore users” and intends to respect both playstyles, without forcing casual players to become hardcore players. To this end, he intends to implement endgame content in a way that doesn’t cause stress nor spoils the enjoyment of casual users. Blue Archive has always prioritized its characters, and it seems this tried-and-true policy will remain unchanged.

Blue Archive is free-to-play for iOS and Android.
