Blue Archive developers’ new title Project KV gets cancelled   

Dynamis One and Studio Alaya announced the cancellation of Project KV on September 8, only a week after the title’s initial trailer was released. All posts related to the game have been deleted. 

Project KV was announced as a “nostalgic school action drama” game set to release in 2024. According to the official website, the story is set in Kapila, the City of Dormitories, and follows a lively cast of sword-wielding girls. The player takes the role of their teacher. 

Project KV’s development staff included South Korean scenario writer isakusan, art director DoReMi and composer Mitsukiyo. All three creators were previously involved in the development of Nexon Games’ Blue Archive. 

Project KV was initially teased on August 18, followed by an official announcement and trailer reveal on September 1. Despite being Dynamis One and Studio Alaya’s debut title, the game attracted a lot of attention due to its connections with Blue Archive. Not only do the two titles share core development members, but they also have similarities in setting, such as the dormitory system and the students’ halos. Some fans pointed out that the working title “Project KV” sounds a little like Blue Archive’s Kivotos. 

These similarities have also been a source of controversy, especially among Blue Archive players in Japan and Korea, who began to worry about the title’s future. Project KV was also embroiled in rumors about Nexon Games’ employees being poached for the title, although this has not been confirmed. 

Perhaps as a result of the controversy,  Dynamis One announced on September 8 that Project KV was cancelled and that all materials related to it would be deleted. The developers did not give a clear reason for scrapping the game, but apologized for “causing inconvenience and concern.”
