Blue Archive developers announce new interactive 3D game Project RX

NEXON Games recently announced a new game titled Project RX. Development is being headed by Blue Archive’s general producer Yong Ha Kim.

According to the press release by NEXON Games, Project RX is a “sub-culture game” (like Blue Archive) that focuses on allowing the player to interact with the characters through an immersive story and slice-of-life content. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and promises “high-quality 3D graphics.”

Development of Project RX apparently started in April 2023 by a temporary taskforce at Nexon. As of August 1 this year, the taskforce was officially named RX Studio. The new studio belongs to the same division as Blue Archive’s MX Studio.

Nexon Games released a teaser image for Project RX, which reveals an art style and character designs reminiscent of Blue Archive’s. One of Blue Archive’s character designers, YutokaMizu, is Project RX’s art director.

Last month, a couple of former Blue Archive developers had announced the controversial Project KV, which featured a setting and characters very similar to that of Blue Archive’s. Although it garnered a lot of excitement for these similarities, the game was ultimately cancelled, likely due to backlash from fans in Korea and Japan. However, it seems that with Project RX, fans will finally be getting an official follow-up game to Blue Archive, although it does not seem to be a direct sequel.
