Bleach: Rebirth of Souls is being developed by the lesser-known veteran studio behind Battle Arena Toshinden, Senran Kagura

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced Bleach: Rebirth of Souls for the PC (Steam), PS4/PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The fighting action game based on Tite Kubo’s acclaimed manga series is being developed by Tamsoft Corporation. The unexpected choice of this lesser-known studio has prompted surprised but pleased reactions from Japanese fans, who have high hopes for the long-awaited Bleach console title.

Tamsoft Corporation, established in 1992, is a Japanese game developer that has mostly worked with other publishers throughout the years. The studio notably developed Takara Tomy’s fighting game series Battle Arena Toshinden in the 90s and went on to work on D3 Publisher’s hack and slash series OneChanbara in the early 2000s. Tamsoft has continued to develop a wide range of titles including the Dream Club dating simulators and Marvelous’s hit Senran Kagura series.

The upcoming Bleach: Rebirth of Souls is a licensed 3D arena fighter that will recreate Bleach’s sword battles and character-specific action while retelling a part of the original manga’s story through its story mode. Tamsoft has previously developed licensed games that combine story and action, such as the hack-and-slash action game Gintama Rumble and the football game Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. The studio was also a co-developer of Melty Blood: Type Lumina, which has been praised for its refined battle system.

Given Tamsoft Corporation’s proven track record, gamers are happy to see that the studio is still active, and are curious to see how it will tackle Bandai Namco’s ambitious Bleach game.

Bleach: Rebirth of Souls is scheduled to launch on PC (Steam), PS5/PS4 and Xbox Series X|S. A release date has yet to be announced.

  1. I know there is criticism around Arena Fighters and there is fatigue due to oversaturation. But Tamsoft and Bleach is one of the best parings possible, because Bleach always uses swords and hack and slash. Tamsoft makes Hack And Slash games with some in depth mechanics despite being a very budget studio. I have a great feeling about Bleach and it’s one of the rare instances where I will even consider an Arena Fighter, as i have played almost every Tamsoft game with Onechanbara, Senran Kagura, and even the spinoff Neptunia X Senran Kagura, and the GBA Toshindan. I am awaiting to see the results.
