Bizarre Switch 2 bug wrecks balance of Japanese butt-controlled fighting game, devs warn of “overpowered” butt specs

Devs suggest the bug is caused by the improved specs of the Switch 2 and encourage players to enjoy the chaos till the issue is solved.

Ketsu Battler (English: Butt Battler) is a two-player fighting game for the Nintendo Switch by developer KAYAC and Shogakukan’s CoroCoro Comic editorial department. In the game, you must take down your opponent with nothing but the force of your shaking buttocks, in real life. Ketsu Battler is also available on Switch 2 via backwards compatibility, but players have discovered a strange bug that wrecks the game’s balance, giving your dump truck even more power than it’s supposed to have. The devs have appropriately nicknamed it the “Extreme” Ketsu Battler edition.
In a recent viral X post, they also suggested that the cause of the bug may be the console’s improved specifications.

The premise of Ketsu Battler is simple – you and your opponent will have a butt-off. You control your butt swordsman character by sticking a Joy-Con in your pants so that it’s supported by the waistband, or you can squeeze it between your cheeks if you’re feeling adventurous enough (Just kidding, let’s not do that). Your booty shakes translate to the swings of your sword, and the more vigorously you twerk and work your butt, the more power will build up, allowing you to unleash a special move and crush your opponent.

The recently discovered bug when running the game on the Switch 2 seems to push these mechanics to the max, according to Japanese speed runner Koh-So. On their X account, they reported that the Switch 2 version of the game is strangely fast – the way gauges fill up, the sword swinging and even the special moves seem to be much faster and way more chaotic when compared to the original Switch release.

The devs seem to have investigated the problem, and their conclusion was – the Switch 2 specs are just too high. “It’s been confirmed that if you play Ketsu Battler on the Switch 2, your butt will become unexpectedly overpowered,” they wrote. The devs also promised that they would continue their investigation, but due to the Switch 2 being a brand-new console, they might need a bit more time before they manage to find the actual root of the problem. For the time being, they invite you to enjoy the chaotic “Extreme” edition of the Ketsu Battler exclusively on the Switch 2.

Ketsu Battler is out now for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
