Beat up “insane colleagues” to quit your exploitative job in 2D workplace brawler Quit Today

2D side-scrolling beat 'em up Quit Today has come to Switch and PS5/4 following its Steam release in 2024.

Taiwan-based YOHCAN STUDIO (in collaboration with publisher Justdan International) has just released its first game, Quit Today, on consoles. Set within the backdrop of an exploitative Japanese company where your co-workers treat you like a traitor over hearsay about your plans to quit, you must get to the bottom of the rumors with your trusty briefcase for protection.

Quit Today has you exploring the various departments of a heavily exaggerated version of a corrupt company. When it comes to beating up your colleagues, the game features a straightforward combat system comprised of light attacks, charge moves, and supers. This can be further expanded with randomly generated abilities and upgrades to existing ones. You’ll need to upgrade your moveset, as department managers act as bosses for the major sections.

While this is an entirely single-player experience, a handful of NPC companions called Partners will join you on your quest. These include the likes of Magical Momo (a magical girl dressed in a sailor uniform), Richman Ming (a man in a tricked-out wheelchair that shoots clusters of coins), and Yokozuna Chen (a massive sumo wrestler). Partners can be tagged in during battles and upgraded as you progress.

With its unique art style and premise, Quit Today should resonate with beat ‘em up fans and anyone working a gruelling, 9 to 5 corporate job. Since you can’t take your frustrations out at work without HR getting in the way, perhaps this game could serve as a better outlet.

Quit Today is available today on the Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation 4 and 5. A PC (Steam) version was released last year alongside a free demo.
