Bandai Namco files new Tales of the Abyss trademark

Bandai Namco Entertainment has registered a new trademark for Tales of the Abyss, the Tales series’ eighth mainline entry. The trademark was filed on January 16 and made public on January 25.

While the filing of a trademark alone is not necessarily indicative of a new game release, Bandai Namco recently launched its “Tales of series Remaster Project” which, starting from the recently released Tales of Graces f Remastered, aims to bring older Tales titles to modern platforms in non-chronological order. In these circumstances, the new Tales of the Abyss trademark has given fans hope that a remaster of the 2005 RPG might be on the horizon. Currently, Tales of the Abyss is only playable on the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo 3DS.

The Tales of Series Remaster Project has a dedicated development team at Bandai, and the IP’s general producer Yusuke Tomizawa has mentioned that fans can expect new remasters to come out at a consistent pace, so we may get an official announcement on their next project soon.
