Ao Oni to launch on Steam and Nintendo Switch on July 26 with new modes
Game Studio and LiTMUS announced that the cult classic horror puzzle game Ao Oni will be releasing on Steam and the Nintendo Switch on July 26 with support for 10 languages (source: GameBiz).
Ao Oni is a survival horror game developed by Japanese indie creator noprops in 2004 using RPG Maker XP. As a boy named Hiroshi, you investigate a supposedly haunted mansion with your classmates, only to run into the creepy humanoid creature called Ao Oni. While running from the shrieking Blue Demon, you explore the mansion and solve puzzles in order to find a way out. Ao Oni’s popularity gave birth to a franchise including several sequels, spin-offs and even novelizations.
On July 26, the original Ao Oni will be coming to Steam and the Switch in an “evolved” edition. The game will include a mode called “Ai’s Story,” in which a new character called Ai becomes the protagonist. In addition, a new “High Speed Mode” will allow players to challenge themselves to clear Ao Oni at 1.5x and 2x speeds.
As an aside, Ao Oni recently got a 3D reboot with the action game Absolute Fear -Ao Oni-, which was released in April this year.
Ao Oni is scheduled to launch on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch on July 26, 2024.
