Investigate a cryptic online post in this horror walking sim

Japanese indie developer UnderDoor released The Contact on March 4 for the PC (Steam). The game is available in English and Japanese.

The Contact is a horror walking simulator game that depicts a “terrifying experience” triggered by a strange thread on the Internet. One day, you come across a series of mysterious posts that say, “Find 090-■■■■-■■■■ https://■■■■■■■■■■,” all containing different phone numbers and URLs. Opening the URLs, you piece together coordinates and, to pass the time, you decide to head to the location, arriving at a quiet, dimly lit building.

As the protagonist, you will investigate the eerie building with your phone clasped in your hand, determined to uncover what lies behind the cryptic posts. The Contact’s trailer and screenshots reveal dark corridors, derelict bathrooms, and an area lined with computers. According to the developer, the game depicts the terror of everyday occurrences and delivers a “quiet sense of dread” in a realistic environment. Total play time is about 30 minutes.

The developer of The Contact is UnderDoor, who has previously released action-oriented horror games such as Kairai Inn and Tugger Mascot under the name 9log6. The Contact seems to be their first take on the walking simulator genre.

The Contact is currently available for the PC (Steam). It can be purchased at a 10% discount until March 11.
