Palworld exploit lets you butcher Pals for legendary schematics without killing them

The Palworld community has recently discovered an exploit that allows you to “butcher” Pals in a sustainable way. You can now receive all the items they drop when butchered while avoiding the most unfortunate part of it – death. The hack works for mountable Pals.

Though not a popular option among many Players, Palworld allows you to kill Pals. This can be done to free up space in your Palbox or to receive various resources. In order to butcher a Pal, you need the Meat Cleaver weapon, which can be unlocked from the Technology Tree at level 12 and crafted from 5 metal ingots, 5 Stone and 20 Wood.

Once the Meat Cleaver is equipped, the “Pet” command on the command wheel becomes “Butcher,” and by selecting this, you can swiftly end your unfortunate Pal’s life. Furthermore, the act of killing Pals is deemed immoral in the world of Palword, so being spotted doing so by NPCs will result in your character having a bounty placed on them.

But for those feeling tempted by the benefits of slaying a certain Pal, yet unwilling to take their life, this exploit that was recently unearthed by a user on Reddit may come in handy.

The user discovered that mounting a Pal while butchering them will lead them to dropping resources but remaining completely unscathed. They demonstrate how it’s done on a Frostallion – a legendary Pal. Apparently, to execute the feat, you need to mount your Pal 2 to 3 seconds after your 2nd strike with the Meat Cleaver, i.e., just before the Pal dies. The user also adds that, if you butcher your Pal early and it falls down the map, you can drop the Pal and pick it up to reset the whole process.

Once “butchered,” the Frostallion in the demonstration drops Diamonds, Ice Organs, Ancient Civilization Parts etc., and the process can even be repeated. Users have pointed out that this exploit has created the easiest way to obtain Legendary Schematics in the game.

On the other hand, the method does come with the risk of actually killing your Pal, and one user’s error in timing made their Blazamut alive but permanently mosaic censored, or as they describe it, went “permanently Nintendo 64.”

Palworld is available in early access for the PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
