The Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth devs can’t wait for players’ reactions to everything they’ve hidden
Sega’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth was released on January 26 for the PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One and PS4/PS5. The newest installment of the Like a Dragon series is one of RGG Studio’s biggest titles to date, featuring a polished battle system and a massive amount of content. According to a recent interview, the creators are looking forward to players discovering and reacting to all the game elements they’ve deliberately kept hidden all this time.
On the day of Infinite Wealth’s release, it was revealed that the title would be using an existing song by Japanese singer and songwriter Ringo Sheena (Ringo Shiina), contributing to the excitement. In an interview with 4gamer, the director of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Yokoyama Masayoshi was asked about the unconventional decision to keep the collaboration under wraps until the day of release.
In response, Yokoyama surprisingly revealed that at first, he had wanted to keep the collaboration completely secret, giving only those who play the game the satisfaction of discovering it. This is also why the song’s title was not revealed. He then added, “There’s a lot of things (in the game) that we are looking forward to in the same way. Things that have us thinking, ‘I wonder is someone going to notice this and share it on social media?’”
Yokoyama mentions that their studio has previously been told that they reveal too much through pre-release trailers, which is why they have purposely left “quite a lot hidden” for Infinite Wealth. It seems the creators are looking forward to players coming across all the surprises they have planted in the game.
And truly, the past few days have been full of crazy discoveries for Infinite Wealth players – including but not limited to: a reference to the “Congratulations scene” from the end of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime, a reference to AKIRA’s famous motorcycle slide, Persona series songs and many more.
