Palworld will let you keep humans as pets and sell them on the black market

Palworld, by Japanese developer Pocket Pair, launches in Early Access on January 19. The game will be available for the PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. A streamer has recently reported that Palworld allows you to “catch” humans in the same way you can catch Pals, and essentially make them your pets.

Palworld is an open-world survival craft game set on the island of Palpagos. The island is inhabited by mysterious creatures called Pals. Pals come in numerous species, all with unique abilities. The player can catch Pals and use them to fight, do field work or even eat them.

There are said to be over 100 species of Pals, including rare ones such as boss, legendary and lucky Pals. As the island is inhabited by residents, peddlers and poachers, Pals are also subject to being bought and sold.

Unexpectedly, it seems that Palworld will also allow you to capture human beings in the same way you can catch Pals. Streamer @coney shared a clip in which he captures a poacher.

In Palworld, weakened Pals can be captured by throwing Pal Spheres at them, and it seems the exact same method works on humans. Furthermore, they can even be sold on the black market for a high price and dismembered for meat, as demonstrated in the clips below.

Despite its cute style and designs, Palworld seems to have a dark side, which is becoming increasingly apparent as players dig deeper. Palworld has been frequently compared to Pokémon for its general concept, but now users seem to be calling it things like “Pokémon if it were realistic” or “dark Pokémon” too. As an aside, we were able to spot a notice in the game that says, “Capturing humans with Pal Spheres is considered inhumane on Palpagos Island.”

Palworld releases in Early Access on January 19 for the PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The game will be available via Xbox/PC Game Pass.
