Ace Attorney developers object to ending the series – a 7th Ace Attorney is entirely possible

Capcom’s Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy, which compiles the courtroom battle series’ fourth, fifth and sixth installments, will be releasing on January 25 for the PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The compilation features upscaled 4K graphics and various fun bonus features. With the launch right around the corner, Ace Attorney producer Kenichi Hashimoto commented on the series’ future.

The Ace Attorney visual novel adventure game series first launched back in 2001. Through its 6 main entries and multiple spin-offs, the whimsical courtroom battle series established its own genre with its iconic characters and plotlines. The series contributed greatly to the positive reception of visual novel games in the West, and continues to maintain a cult following worldwide.

Although Ace Attorney fans have been getting their fill with the HD compilation from 2021 and the upcoming 2024 trilogy, there’s also been a lot of hope for a new sequel – and this hope might not be for naught.

When asked about the possibility of a new entry to the Ace Attorney main series during a recent interview for IGN Japan, Hashimoto answered, “Unfortunately, there is nothing that I can disclose yet, but we have no intention of ending the Ace Attorney series here, and we want it to live to see its 25th anniversary in 2026, as well as its 30th anniversary in 2031. I don’t know when we will be able to make announcements or for what, but please stay tuned for updates.”

Although there’s no specific announcement yet, it seems the Ace Attorney developers envision a long future for the series.

Additionally, when asked about what kind of game a potential “Ace Attorney 7” would be, Hashimoto responded, “It’s difficult to achieve a balance that will satisfy both existing fans of the series and also be enjoyable for new players, but of course, it must include the core elements that make up the appeal of the Ace Attorney series – the story, characters, mystery solving and tempo. These four elements are essential to Ace Attorney.”

Hashimoto goes on to invite users to play the upcoming Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy, which he describes as “overflowing” with the previously mentioned appeals of the series. He also welcomes players to give “various opinions” upon playing the game. Perhaps players’ responses to the Trilogy will have an influence on the direction of a possible sequel.

Appolo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy is scheduled to be released on January 25 for the PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
