New Neko Atsume release brings cute virtual kitties right into your living room
Neko Atsume Purrfect Kitty Collector is set to take advantage of Meta Quest 3’s new mixed reality (MR) features, which will bring your virtual pets right into your room. The latest game in the Neko Atsume cat collecting series, it is scheduled to release on December 15.
The cat-owning simulation game Neko Atsume made its debut on smartphones in 2014. It later appeared on the Nintendo 3DS in 2017 with a VR version being released on PlayStation VR in 2018. Although the PlayStation VR game enabled you to view and play with your kitties in a VR setting, the Meta Quest 3 version of the upcoming game is set to take the experience to the next level.
Released this year, Meta Quest 3 comes with a mixed reality feature that blends virtual reality with the room you are playing in. From the wildlife documentary-inspired trailer above, it seems that your virtual pets will be able to bound around your room, roll around on your rug and come right up to your chair to play with you.
Mixing VR with reality, it seems that you will be able to have a virtual cat tower standing in your own room, as well as carry your VR kitties around your house. According to the official website, the simulation game will feature 46 different cat breeds. The cats will also have various personality traits for you to discover.
Neko Atsume Purrfect Kitty Collector will be released on December 15 for Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest Pro. It will also be available for Meta Quest 2 but without color MR.
