A new Fight Crab game is in development with a closed test coming soon

Calappa Games has begun recruiting testers in Japan for a new successor to Fight Crab. The test is only for those who have played Fight Crab and will be run via a PC version beginning in January 2023.

Fight Crab is a 3D action game where crabs battle against each other. You take control of a crab and must use the crab’s left and right pincers to flip the opposing crab over while also moving around with its legs. However, the crabs cannot be easily flipped at the start of a fight, so you must inflict damage on your opponent by attacking it. The more damage that an opponent takes, the easier it becomes to flip them over.

There are over 20 species of crabs available in the game, and not only can you battle with your pincers, but there is also a wide range of equipment that can be used to help take down your opponent, including swords, guns, and jet engines—you can even ride on seals. The PC version received its official release in July 2020, and as of the time of writing, 93% of the 612 Steam user reviews are positive, giving the game a Very Positive rating.

We now know that a successor to Fight Crab is currently in development. The closed test will be run using a PC (Steam) version, and those who wish to apply must have played the original Fight Crab for at least 10 hours. Participants in the test will be able to provide feedback via a Discord server. While it is currently unclear just what kind of game this successor is, the fact that they are recruiting Fight Crab players suggests that it may be similar to the original.
