Zombie of the Dot is a new zombie RPG from 428: Shibuya Scramble’s Jiro Ishii
Kemco has announced Zombie of the Dot, a new RPG being planned and supervised by game creator Jiro Ishii and developed by Hit-Point. The game is scheduled to release in the fall of 2022 for iOS and Android with console ports planned for 2023.
Zombie of the Dot is a zombie-themed RPG with a pixel art style. While details about the story are currently unknown, the game aims to be enjoyable for those who want to play a zombie game but aren’t comfortable with action gameplay or grotesque depictions. From the screenshots, the game seems to have a mild horror vibe that tones down the disturbing imagery, perhaps due to the pixel art style.
Zombie of the Dot also features a turn-based battle system that lets players carefully plan out their moves when fighting off the undead. Combine that with the art style and it certainly seems like a game those uncomfortable with action gameplay and grotesque depictions can enjoy.
Rather than the exhilaration of shooting zombies, Zombie of the Dot looks to focus more on the dramatic aspect of zombie-related works like the human drama between survivors. It also sounds like it will deliver customary zombie experiences like that sense of relief when you’re narrowly able to grab the supplies you need.
Zombie of the Dot is being supervised by Jiro Ishii, the executive producer of titles such as 428: Shibuya Scramble. Ishii is highly regarded for his wide range of works across games, anime, and film, so it will be exciting to see what he has in store for the zombie genre. It will also be interesting from a gameplay perspective to see how fighting zombies and turn-based combat come together.
Furthermore, development is being handled by Hit-Point, the studio behind titles like Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector and Travel Frog. We look forward to seeing what happens when this distinct combination of Kemco, Jiro Ishii, and Hit-Point come together to make a zombie game.
