VTuber Suzuka Itimatu has announced that YASO curse of soirée will be coming to Steam on July 7 (JST). The game will support English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

YASO curse of soirée is a 3D horror adventure game set during the end of Japan’s Meiji era (1868-1912) where you explore a mysterious Western style house. The game begins with protagonist, Shoka Kirima, realizing that she is within a house she doesn’t recognize. Her memories are foggy, and she doesn’t know how she got there, where the house is located, or even what she was doing beforehand. Naturally, Shoka heads towards the exit until she notices that she has lost the paper crane that she carries as a good luck charm. She braves the menacing aura of the house and begins the search for her precious crane.

There are a multitude of rooms for Shoka to explore, some of which require keys, and she must also square off against the ominous presence that lurks within the house. From time to time, Shoka will remember things or talk to herself, and these events will shed some light on the mysteries of the house and Shoka’s own actions. The game will contain three different endings.

The demo for the game that was released in August 2021 took place entirely within the house, but based on the new trailer above, it appears as though the full version of the game will also allow players to explore outside. We can see new locations, such as a garden area and what appears to be the sunken remains of a town.

The title is being developed by Suzuka Itimatu, a virtual ichimatsu doll who creates music and games. She previously created the game GOHOME, which was released in 2020. YASO curse of soirée was initially planned to be released in September 2021 before being delayed. In a video from January this year, Itimatu gave reasons for the delay, stating that the initial timeframe was naïve and that she didn’t want to make compromises on the quality of the game.

Itimatu is developing the game completely on her own and was aiming for at least a “reasonable level of quality that won’t feel crude.” However, in order to maintain her motivation, she has decided to devote all her current energy to the game’s creation. A number of improvements have been made to the game when compared to last year’s demo, such as completely remaking the protagonist’s face.

The Steam page for YASO curse of soirée can be found here. To commemorate the release, there are also plans to hold a 77% off sale for GOHOME that will begin on July 7 (JST) and last one week.
