A survey in Japan shows strong interest in Apex Legends & Jujutsu Kaisen among youth
LINE Corporation, the company behind the messenger app LINE, published the results of a survey they conducted in March 2022 about recent trends in Japan. Respondents were in the 15-24 age range, and questions were given in an open-ended format.
The results show a high interest in the Russian invasion of Ukraine among youth, ranking at the top of the list. Jujutsu Kaisen ranked second, jumping up from 10th place in the previous survey conducted in December 2021. The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie premiered last December in Japan and went on to become a huge box office success, which might have influenced the results.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba dropped down from the number 1 spot to number 4, while Apex Legends went up from 11 to 5, becoming the most answered video game name in the survey. This isn’t a surprise considering how successful the game has been in Japan, both in terms of viewership and player population.
Uma Musume Pretty Derby and Pokémon are still ranked among the top 10, showing persistent popularity. Other games like Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! Genshin Impact and Elden Ring are included in the 11-30 spots. The vocaloid-centric rhythm game Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! is especially popular among the 15-18 age group.
