Elden Ring boss Starscourge Radahn has been found to have an unexpected weakness. As reported by GamesRadar+ and PC Gamer, he can’t swim.

The following article contains spoilers about Starscourge Radahn.

Elden Ring is the latest action RPG from FromSoftware. The game has a collection of powerful bosses, with the Demigod story bosses having deep backstories and absurdly strong attacks to go with them. For this reason, they’ve been popular (or resented) with the fans. But one boss fans have been especially passionate about is Starscourge Radahn.

Radahn is an overwhelming triple threat, with range, speed, and power. For this reason, he caused many a player to shout in frustration just after the game’s launch. Then an update came with some overall adjustments that toned down his strength. But of course, Radahn was later updated again and brought more in line with how he was at launch because the previous update reducing the power of some attacks was unintentional (related article).

But this beast of a boss has an unexpected weakness. He can’t swim. This weakness was exposed because of his high-flying meteor attack. During this attack, Radahn rises into the sky, seemingly among the stars, and then comes slamming into the ground like a meteor engulfed in flames. The extremely powerful attack likely blasted a number of players to oblivion. But it looks like it’s also possible for Radahn to fall into the sea when using the move. This phenomenon was reported by both Reddit user HomeGrownCrown7 and Twitter user @izuoku_.

If Radahn can slam down from outer space like a meteor, you would think he could jump out of a body of water. But both Radahn and his beloved horse die at sea. While from the standpoint of Elden Ring’s mechanics, it’s actually a fall death, it’s more fun to think of it as a Demigod not being able to swim.

Aside from Radahn, the community has also reported Margit and other powerful enemies dying from fall deaths, though it’s kind of an anticlimactic way to go about defeating them. Luckily the area where you battle Radahn is large, so it’s not hard to avoid the water. If you’re looking to enjoy the thrill of battle, perhaps it’s best to avoid the shoreline.
