An English version of the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid game to launch this summer

Publisher Aksys Games has announced that Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Burst Forth!! Choro-gon☆Breath is coming to countries outside of Japan this summer. The game recently came out in Japan for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on March 24.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Burst Forth!! Choro-gon☆Breath is a videogame adaptation of the popular Japanese manga/anime series Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. The original series’ story centers around an ordinary overworked system engineer named Kobayashi and a maid dragon named Tohru. It’s a heartwarming slice of life comedy in which characters of different species and values come to accept each other.

The videogame version is a vertical scrolling shooter developed by Kaminari Games where you control Tohru, Kanna, and Elma to defeat enemies and clear stages.

Kobayashi receives a cryptic e-mail from her otaku colleague Takiya saying that he has something to show everyone, so she heads over to Takiya’s house with the aforementioned characters. However, what they find in Takiya’s room is a cursed computer, and Kobayashi and company get trapped inside. Now they must clear the games installed on the computer in order to escape.

Each character can use ranged and melee attacks, along with the Choro-gon Breath, where they transform into a dragon to perform a deadly attack. There’s also a skill called Raging Spark, which temporarily increases the characters’ attack power by meeting a certain condition. The visuals for each character change while the skill is activated, such as their clothes getting torn.

Over 30 newly drawn illustrations are included in the game, and each illustration can be completed by collecting Memorial Pieces that you obtain by defeating enemies. There are five endings in total, and you get a different one based on your clear score.

The physical versions of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Burst Forth!! Choro-gon☆Breath are now available for pre-order on the Aksys Games’ official online store. The game is currently available in Japan on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
