VTuber Uruha Rushia released from hololive for contract violations

Cover Corporation has terminated its contract with Uruha Rushia, a former member of the VTuber group hololive, for contract violations; allegedly leaking undisclosed company information and publicizing falsehoods to various related parties.

According to the announcement, the company suffered reputational damage and has determined that “it has become difficult to continue managing and supporting her and have elected to make this decision.” Rushia’s YouTube channel and membership will close at the end of March 2022. The details regarding refunds of Rushia’s birthday merchandise will be announced on the respective sales websites at a later date.

Cover concluded the announcement by stating that they will make “further efforts into instructing the talents that are affiliated with us on compliance matters so that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.” Rushia hasn’t commented on the matter as of this writing.

Uruha Rushia was a VTuber who debuted in June 2019 as part of the third generation of hololive alongside other members, including Usada Pekora and Shirogane Noel. She had 1.59 million subscribers on YouTube at the time of retirement. She’s known as a shy necromancer who talks to dead spirits and corpses to distract herself from loneliness.

During a livestream held in early February, Rushia accidentally showed a Discord DM from Mafumafu, a popular singer and songwriter. Rumors of them dating had spread, prompting Mafumafu to make an apology during a livestream. He did deny the rumor suggesting that the two of them are living together. It’s unknown whether this incident is related to Rushia’s contract termination or not.

Mikeneko, the person who played Rushia, made a tweet yesterday, apologizing and saying that she intends to stream at a later date. Mikeneko’s new YouTube channel can be found here, which already has 96.9K subscribers even though no content is available as of this writing, besides a test video.
