Publisher Justdan International has released Dusk Diver 2 in Asia for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. The Steam version is available for $49.99 with multiple language support, including English and Japanese. Voice-overs are available for Japanese and Traditional Chinese.
Dusk Diver 2 is a sequel to the anime-style beat ’em up action game Dusk Diver released in 2019. The new game takes place one year after the events of the previous title. The protagonist Yumo, who possesses the power of the Dragon Vein, is now a college student living an ordinary life, working part-time at a convenience store. But one day, Chaos Beast re-emerges in Youshanding, a hidden realm where Phantoms reside. Yumo must once again stand up to save Ximending and its people.
The game’s primary location is still Ximending, but this time around, you can visit other parts of Taipei as well. Collaboration with real stores and eateries has returned with even more places to visit, so players can enjoy the local cuisine more so than in the previous game. Eating at a store will grant characters numerous perks that give them an edge in battles. There are also shops that allow players to upgrade weapons using crafting materials. Besides visiting local stores, players can partake in a number of side quests as well.
Unlike the first game, players get to control not only Yumo, but her friends Bahet, Le Viada, and Leo as well, each with their own unique skillset and play style. In addition, a mysterious new character named D.D. joins the fight as the fifth playable character.
The sequel introduces new combat features such as a counter and a powerful move called Break Strike. A counter can be triggered by timely responding to certain enemy attacks, and the Break Strike can be activated when an enemy is in the Break state, which occurs after combo-ing them. Characters will gain experience points through battles, and players can use them to level up their stats. Players can also unlock a variety of skills to customize their moveset, which is a key component of the combat system.
Dusk Diver 2 is currently available on Steam for $49.99. The Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 versions are also available in Asia.
