PUZZLE & DRAGONS Nintendo Switch Edition launching February 19

GungHo Online Entertainment has announced that PUZZLE & DRAGONS Nintendo Switch Edition will be launching on February 19. The game will be priced at $4.37 and support both English and Japanese. The game also marks the 10^th anniversary of the PUZZLE & DRAGONS series.

PUZZLE & DRAGONS Nintendo Switch Edition is the latest title in the PUZZLE & DRAGONS series and a match-three puzzle game where players defeat monsters in dungeons by connecting drops of the same color. The game will contain 3 different modes starting with Quest Mode, which can be played solo or with up to 4 players and has players venturing into dungeons to battle monsters.

There’s also PvP Mode which is an online mode where up to 8 players battle for the highest score. Players can enjoy either World Matches against players from around the world or Friend Matches for lobby-based battles with friends. There are also Computer Matches for brushing up your skills against the AI.

And then there’s Custom Mode. This mode lets players create their own original dungeons by choosing the enemies, backgrounds, battle rules, and music. Custom dungeons can be shared with other players and other players’ dungeons from all over the world can be downloaded and played.

There’s an achievement system in the game as well whereby meeting certain conditions, players will earn items for custom dungeons, avatars, and gacha pulls as rewards.

The game’s gacha pulls (called Egg Machines) can be earned through achievements as mentioned above, but are also available for purchase on the eShop. Gacha pulls will net players avatars and each one comes with a bonus item such as a team, awakening badge, or background. There are separate Egg Machines divided by avatar theme and there is no chance of pulling duplicates until you’ve pulled all the available items.

To coincide with the launch, there will be a limited-time PvP dungeon event called the Echidna Cup. This event will run from February 19, 4:00 p.m. until March 15, 3:59 p.m. PST. During the course of the event, completing achievements will net players a Crown, one Godfest Egg Machine pull, and the Crimson Lotus Warrior Echidna – Sara custom item and avatar. After the event, it will also be possible to obtain the custom item and avatar via Friend and Computer Matches.
