Square Enix has announced that an early trial version of Babylon’s Fall is coming to PlayStation platforms on February 25. Babylon’s Fall is an online-only game, so an internet connection is required to play the trial, in addition to a PlayStation Plus subscription and a Square Enix account. A trial for the Steam version is coming later, in late March.

In the free trial, players will be able to test out the game’s 4-player online co-op, the tutorial segment, and the early portion of the game. Save data can be transferred over to the full version when it launches on March 3. As a side note, those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition will gain early access to the full game starting February 28.

Babylon’s Fall is a multiplayer online action RPG being co-developed by Square Enix and PlatinumGames, with gameplay rooted in PlatinumGames’ hack and slash style. Players take the role of a Sentinel equipped with a device called the “Gideon Coffin,” and set off to claim the treasures that await in the Tower of Babel.

Square Enix also revealed during the game’s third official livestream that the premium battle pass for the first season will be available for free. Babylon’s Fall is a live service game with major updates scheduled in three-month seasonal cycles. The first season is set to start on February 25 (and end on May 31) alongside free and premium battle passes that allow players to unlock rewards through gameplay.

Rewards such as experience points and currency boost items are included in the free battle pass, while the premium battle pass provides cosmetic items as rewards. And as mentioned above, all players will have access to both battle passes for free in the first season (normally priced around $10).

Babylon’s Fall is scheduled to launch on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on March 3.
