Pokémon Scarlet and Violet AI app helps you build a strong team for Ranked Battles

The browser app AI Team Builder has added support for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (only available in Japanese). The app’s AI learns from the data of the top teams in Scarlet and Violet’s Ranked Battle Series 1 and uses that information to suggest powerful team combinations.

The app lets you input up to six Pokémon as well as a held item and Tera Type for each. You are free to input as much or as little as you want, and any empty Pokémon, item, or Tera Type slots will be automatically filled by the AI.

The AI Team Builder app was first released in June 2022 as a tool to construct teams for single battles in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Later on, support was added for double battles and for Ranked Battle Series 13, the first time ever that the use of Legendary and Mythical Pokémon was allowed without any restrictions.

Based on the information that is input by the user, over 1,000 team combinations are generated by the app. The AI then determines which of these teams are the strongest, and the top 5 are displayed to the user. The AI is able to derive correct answers around 90% of the time. Although the app maintains a certain level of accuracy, the developer has cautioned that there is no guarantee that it will always produce a strong team.

The app was developed by an individual named naomaru, who has also released many Pokémon videos on their YouTube channel that showcase various uses of AI technology.

Naomaru developed the AI Team Builder app because they wanted to provide assistance to trainers who were having trouble deciding how they should construct their teams. Naomaru also experienced similar dilemmas—often pondering how to create a good team that included their favorite Pokémon or agonizing over which Pokémon to include in the final spot on their team—and this is what led to the app’s creation.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, all Pokémon now possess a Tera Type, which greatly expands the scope of team building possibilities. This also means that putting together a team has become much more difficult, and it takes a lot of time and effort to raise different Pokémon if you are continually altering your team to find the best fit. Using AI Team Builder might allow you to cut out a lot of this trial and error. The app is likely especially useful for new trainers, as it can provide suggestions for powerful teams at a high level of accuracy.

Ranked Battle Series 1 for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet began last December, and Season 2 of the series is currently being held and will run until January 31.
