Square Enix has announced the release date of Chocobo GP. It will come out on March 10, 2022, for Nintendo Switch.

Chocobo GP Lite is also coming out at the same time. It is basically a trial version of the game that includes the prologue section of the Story Mode. You can participate in both local and online multiplayer including the 64-player knock-out style online tournament, Chocobo GP mode.

Chocobo GP is a racing game starring dozens of Chocobo characters from the Final Fantasy series. Meet various characters along the way and gain experience by participating in races as you make your way to the venue of the GP. The Story Mode lets you learn the basics and get you ready to compete in online and offline multiplayer modes.

You can use a variety of techniques such as drifting, start boost, and air tricks to gain an edge. Pick up Magic Eggs placed throughout the course to obtain magicite, which can be used to cast spells such as Fire and Haste. By collecting the same magicite, you can cast a stronger spell of the same type.

Characters such as Chocobo, Atla, Camilla, Ifrit, and Gilgamesh are available as playable racers. Each character has different abilities, so assess the situation and use your abilities to turn the table. Below are the available game modes listed on the official website:

Story Mode – Adventure through the campaign to unlock characters and courses.

Series Races – Drift and boost your way through 4 tracks in a row and compete for the highest score – online or locally with 2-player split screen.

Time Attack – Race against other players’ ghosts –or your own- from across the world and test just how fast you can go.

Custom Races – Create your own crazy challenge by controlling the number of tracks and Magicite you can have in your own Custom Race – you can even invite friends to try it out, or share your Joycons with a friend for 2-player local fun!

Chocobo GP Mode: Compete against up to 64 players in an online knock-out tournament and prove you’re the best racer – the rewards will change with every season pass!

Chocobo GP is set to launch on March 10, 2022, for Nintendo Switch. The game will support offline/online multiplayer (up to 8 players) and your data from the free Lite version can be carried over to the full version.
