Japanese indie game developer Chilla’s Art released The Radio Station on Steam on October 30. The title is currently available for 10% off at $4.49 until November 6.
The Radio Station is a horror game about exploring the grounds of a radio station in order to uncover the mystery behind your younger brother’s death. The younger brother worked as a broadcaster on a horror-themed show at a radio station nestled in the mountains, and according to them, things were going well.
However, the protagonist wakes up to news of their brother’s death and that the body was found at the radio station. The cause of death was unclear, but the police ruled it a suicide and ended their investigation. With things seemingly going fine at the station, there’s no way it could have been a suicide. Thinking something happened during the broadcast, the protagonist sets out to discover the real cause of their brother’s death by exploring the radio station grounds and getting caught up in an eerie mystery.
Players are able to drive a small truck as they explore the radio station itself, the station’s storage units, and other buildings deep in the mountains. While exploring, players will begin hearing mysterious noises and feeling as if they’re being watched while on their lone search.
Scattered about various locations are recordings from the younger brother’s radio program. As you collect and listen to these past recordings, the events of what happened slowly piece together. The recordings also include ominous testimonials that were sent in from listeners of the show.
The Radio Station features 3 different endings and has a VHS filter that can be toggled on and off to give the game an analog look.
Chilla’s Art, the team behind The Radio Station, are a sibling team of Japanese indie game developers that have vigorously been putting out short horror games, with this one being their 4th release of the year.
