Japanese solo developer Qrostar released their new game Yugo Puzzle on PC (via Steam/itch.io) for $6.99.
Yugo Puzzle is a simple yet challenging puzzle game using various jelly blocks. Your objective is to connect the jelly blocks of the same color. Each block can be moved horizontally, and when two blocks of the same color are placed next to each other, they connect.
It certainly sounds simple, but actually solving the puzzles can be a bit tricky. For example, let’s say there is a step/bump in the center of the screen with a blue jelly on either side. You must move one of the blue jelly blocks to the other side, but they can only move horizontally, and can’t go over the step. You have to think of ways to get past the obstacle, such as using other jelly blocks to make a bridge or a foothold. Devising the order in which you move the blocks is also important.
You have to experiment with various methods through trial and error until that “aha” moment comes. The game also features “Dark mode and color custom settings” and an option to “turn the jelly face display on/off.”
This game was created by Qrostar, the developer behind Jelly no Puzzle. Qrostar is well known among puzzle game players, and Jelly no Puzzle was actually one of the games that inspired Baba Is You‘s developer. Recently, Qrostar has been tweeting out weekly puzzles on Twitter, and even published a puzzle book based on those tweets.
Yugo Puzzle is the latest work by the highly regarded puzzle creator Qrostar, and you can check out the game on Steam / itch.io.
