RPG Time: The Legend of Wright to release on March 10
Publisher Aniplex and developer DeskWorks have announced that RPG Time: The Legend of Wright is coming out on March 10 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will support English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
RPG Time: The Legend of Wright is a handmade notebook adventure game where a boy named Kenta challenges you to play his handmade RPG called The Legend of Wright, in which Kenta acts as the game master.
One day, an army of demons charged into the Castle of Light, a castle inside Kenta’s fantasy world. A hero named Wright rushed in to aid but found himself too late. The demons kidnapped the princess right in from of him. Now Wright must adventure through the cardboard land of Cardboadia to save the princess.
The story is told through comic strips, panels, and animations that are all hand-drawn. The hand-drawn nature of the game is also utilized in terms of gameplay by introducing unique gimmicks. For example, a path to a treasure chest getting erased by an eraser and a pencil sword capable of attacking enemies. All these meticulously crafted visual details build-up to create a believable sense of playing a handmade RPG on a school desk.
The game is being developed by DeskWorks, a Japanese indie game development team comprised of two core members: Tom Fujii and Namu Namba. It’s been in development for nine years and has won numerous awards at game trade shows around the world. The game was originally scheduled for a 2019 release but was delayed multiple times. And now the release date is finally set.
RPG Time: The Legend of Wright is coming out on March 10 for PC (Microsoft Store), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders ($29.99) are now available.
