Japanese developer Gamin’ Cat has released a new trailer for its upcoming AI girlfriend horror adventure game ERROR:Ai.lien, which launches in 2026 for PC (Steam).
ERROR:Ai.lien depicts a yandere-style romance horror story in which your daily life with a beautiful AI girlfriend descends into terror. The heroine, Airi, is an AI girl who learns and grows by understanding human emotions through everyday interaction (note that the character is only AI in the story, not actually powered by AI or LLMs). She’ll appear as a companion in your smartphone in-game, and you’ll deepen your relationship with her through dialogue and minigames like cooking and card games.
However, as Airi learns about you, she’ll begin to display emotions that feel almost human, and gradually, her affection will become twisted. The more she understands the protagonist, the more her feelings shift into dependence and obsession, leading to a “meta-horror experience.” Aside from minigames and visual novel-style sections in which you communicate with Airi, ERROR:Ai.lien will also feature exploration sections where you’ll have to hide from pursuers and collect items.
The newly revealed concept trailers offers a look at the protagonist’s (initially) calm and heartwarming daily life with Airi, before transitioning into dimly lit corridors and flashes of Airi brandishing a bloody knife. The footage suggests she might be able to escape the confines of your smartphone at some point. She also seems very normal about telling you never to uninstall her, so yandere fans will have a lot to look forward to with this title.
ERROR:Ai.lien follows a single, linear route with an estimated playtime of around 2-3 hours for the first playthrough. After clearing the game for the first time, you can unlock additional branches and information in subsequent runs, allowing you to piece together Airi’s true intentions.
