Arknights: Endfield official account endorses slightly terrifying enemy barbecuing facility

Arknights: Endfield's latest “Traveler’s Guide to Talos II” edition introduces players to a morbidly named "Outdoor Grill."

The Arknights: Endfield official X account has provided players with an idea for a “New Outdoor Grill.” Contrary to its peaceful-sounding name, the construction is meant to function as an automated death-cage for farming Essences.

In Endfield, characters can equip Essences to boost their weapon stats, and you can farm targeted Essence drops at locations called Severe Energy Alluviums. But since these dungeons spawn multiple enemies, and Essence farming generally requires repeated runs, the constant combat can quickly become tedious.

This has, of course, led to players experimenting with ways to streamline the process. Since Endfield lets you place various facilities even outside of the AIC, people took this to their advantage to build all manner of enemy “death traps” to essentially automate farming in Energy Alluviums. A particularly viral technique among Japanese players was to line up Planting Units to trap enemies in a makeshift cage, then shower them with attacks from turrets like Surge Towers and AF1 Armor Fraggers.

Amid this trend, the official Endfield account posted a new edition of its “Traveler’s Guide to Talos II” on March 22, and essentially endorsed this somewhat cruel method, introducing its own take on the death trap. Morbidly called an “Outdoor Grill,” the method uses a bunch of Pipe Bridges to tightly enclose the Energy Alluvium, leaving virtually no gaps for enemies to escape from. From there, AF1 Armor Fraggers serve to burn the captors alive (thus the “grilling” part).

Compared to the existing “Planting Unit death trap,” devised by Endfield players, using Pipe Bridges allows for much tighter spacing and more efficient use of build area. On the downside, since Pipe Bridges are small, you have to install a large number of them, which makes setup more labor-intensive.

After testing this “officially-endorsed” death cage, I can confirm that it deals with enemies quite quickly. However, in Wuling City Energy Alluviums, some enemies can float, which occasionally allows them to slip out of containment. Still, while it’s not fool-proof, it’s undeniably effective for Essence farming, so I’d fully recommend trying out the Outdoor Grill on your next run.

Arknights: Endfield is available as a free-to-play title on PC (official site/Epic Games Store), PS5iOS, and Android.
