Japanese VTuber Amakusa Miro, who specializes in playing games on a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller using only her feet, recently posted on X that her unique talent has resulted in her growing what resembles a “second ankle” on the outer portion of her left foot. While this is actually just a very strong, well-developed muscle, its impressive size reflects just how dedicated she is to her craft.
Though Miro’s right foot hasn’t gone through any obvious changes, it was her left foot that caught her attention while she was rewatching one of her own livestreams. To give context, she explained that she often keeps her left foot raised (flexed upwards) when playing games, as she uses it for general movement and navigation using the left analog stick and directional buttons, respectively. In contrast, her right foot usually rests on the controller, as she primarily uses it to press the face buttons and occasionally move the camera with the right analog stick. This seems to be why she ended up unconsciously “working out” an unusual muscle in her left foot.
For reference, Miro primarily plays multiplayer titles such as the Splatoon franchise, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Mario Kart World. She even boasts some impressive achievements, such as obtaining Rank X in Splatoon 2 (the highest rank obtainable) and defeating a High Rank Arkveld in Monster Hunter Wilds by herself in under three minutes.
Miro’s discovery led her to jokingly exclaim that she might have developed muscles that most people don’t have. In honor of her efforts, she has dubbed her swollen muscle the “Amakusa muscle,” adding that any companies looking to have their logos placed on her feet are welcome to contact her.
Reactions to Miro’s X post have fans marveling at the human body’s ability to adapt and wondering how much better she would do if she used her hands (Miro says she would earn roughly 450 more experience points in a ranked Splatoon match if she did so). While there are some people who doubt her skills, Miro always manages to rise to the challenge and improve her gameplay.
