An Arknights: Endfield players has spent 6 hours laying down underground pipes to create a secret "Wuling Transmutation Circle."

Today in things that serve no purpose other than looking really cool, an Arknights: Endfield player has recreated Full Metal Alchemist’s “Nationwide Transmutation Circle” in the game’s Wuling City. This one will not sacrifice thousands of human souls in exchange for a Philosopher’s Stone, but it sure was a feat to recreate in-game. The massive construction takes advantage of new features added in Endfield’s latest v1.1 update, “Old Deep Water Dies by Rising Tide It is Denied.”

The creator of this Nationwide Transmutation Circle is Korean player Ateri, who posted their handiwork to gaming forum DCInside. To provide some background, the Nationwide Transmutation Circle is a major plot point in Hiromu Arakawa’s Full Metal Alchemist manga series. Unlike other alchemical diagrams appearing in the story, this one is not only as big as a whole country, but it’s also carved out using secret underground tunnels as part of a massive conspiracy by the title’s main antagonist. Once activated, it’s designed to consume the life of every human being within it to transmute a powerful Philosopher’s Stone.

In their forum post, Ateri showcases screenshots of their own “Wuling Transmutation Circle,” faithfully shaped like two encircled pentagons spanning a good chunk of the city. According to the player, this ominous structure is disguised as an innocent irrigation channel, and it took them six hours to create it by meticulously laying down water pipes.

Incidentally, underground piping only became possible with Arknights: Endfield’s latest v1.1 patch. By laying down pipes underground, you’re less restricted by terrain, and your systems can span longer distances (up to 200 meters) which, surprisingly, makes the construction of monumental magical circles much more convenient.

Arknights: Endfield is available as a free-to-play title on PC (official site/Epic Games Store), PS5iOS, and Android.
