Granblue Fantasy to host Fullmetal Alchemist collab event, with Edward Elric featured as the first gacha character

Edward Elric will be a a playable character in Granblue Fantasy's upcoming collaboration with the Full Metal Alchemist IP.

During the Granblue Fantasy 12th Anniversary Countdown Live Broadcast, it was announced that the Japanese version of the original Cygames JRPG will be getting a Fullmetal Alchemist collaboration event on May 15. One of the limited-time gacha characters that players can roll for will be Edward Elric, whose unique appearance for the game was drawn by longtime character artist and designer Hideo Minaba, under supervision of the manga’s original author. Romi Park, who provided the Japanese voice for Edward in films, anime, and video games, will likewise be lending her talents for this collab (she expressed her excitement over on her official X account).

A collaboration event with Fullmetal Alchemist is confirmed for Friday, May 15! We’re giving you an exclusive first look at the artwork for the playable character “Edward Elric”, who will be added during the collaboration event!

Edward will not be the only unlockable character during the event, as the hosts hinted that other familiar faces from the anime and manga will be making an appearance. Since Edward is rarely seen without his younger brother, Alphonse (he can also be seen in a promotional image during the announcement), there’s a good chance players can roll for him too.

Granblue Fantasy has its fair share of guest characters, ranging from Neon Genesis Evangelion’s Asuka & Unit 02 to Doraemon. There is no confirmation if the global Steam release will follow the Japanese version’s schedule (it will likely follow an accelerated schedule similar to other Cygames global releases like Umamusume: Pretty Derby), but English-speaking players will still be able to enjoy the event by switching the Japanese version’s language to “English” via the in-game menus

Granblue Fantasy is available for iOSAndroid, and web browsers. A global version will be released for Windows (Steam) on March 10, 2026.
