Japanese developer SHANNON and horror doujin circle 7Korobi8Korogari released their new visual novel Apathy: Psycho Fujoshi in February 2026, for the PC (DLSite, BOOTH). Marketed as the “first ever 18+ visual novel with full voice acting,” Psycho Fujoshi is the new entry in the long running Apathy series, penned by Last Armageddon developer Takiya Ijima (previously known under the name Takuya Ijima). While the game was initially announced for Steam, it seems like the developers ran into issues and were forced to suspend its launch on the platform altogether (source: Game*Spark).
According to Ijima’s recent X post, the Steam release of the game has been officially cancelled after the team ran into issues that coulnd’tt be resolved “by simply making revisions to the game.” As he explains, “those who’ve played the game will know what I’m talking about, but I did feel like there would be a lot of problems, so this kind of outcome was unavoidable.”
While Ijima didn’t elaborate what the “issues” were exactly, one can assume that the game, ended up getting stuck (and ultimately rejected) in Valve’s review process due to the platform’s increasingly strict content regulations. Psycho Fujoshi’s official description on BOOTH and DLSite notes that the game contains graphic and sexual expressions, with a big content warning for readers who might be offended by such depictions. Considering that the game is rated 18+ and features explicit scenes as well as blood and gore, it makes sense why the developers would call the Steam issues an “unavoidable outcome.”
Apathy: Psycho Fujoshi follows the story of self-proclaimed lady-killer and playboy Haruto Anzai, who meets the mysterious Maria Senma and becomes fascinated by her. However, this encounter is what ends up turning our protagonist’s life into actual hell. With both straight pairings and BL elements in the mix (as hinted by the game’s title), the graphic visual novel features a linear storyline with no player choices and only one ending. At the time of writing, the game is only available in Japanese.
Apathy: Psycho Fujoshi is out now for PC (BOOTH, DLSite).
