Former Devil May Cry dev releases new demo for 3D high school girl action game MIGHTREYA

Wazen, the solo Japanese developer behind 3D action game MIGHTREYA, has released a new demo for the game with Japanese voice acting.

Solo Japanese developer Wazen has released a new MIGHTREYA demo ahead of Steam’s February Next Fest. Based on player feedback from previous playtests, this one features improved gameplay, localization in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Chinese, as well as the much-requested Japanese voice overs.

MIGHTREYA follows Reya, a high school girl with superpowers, and Rio, her manager, as they livestream themselves fighting monsters from another dimension. Reya does most of the fighting, which is executed in 3D arenas using simple controls that allow her to fly, dash, and execute combos. Reya will have three weapons and over 30 unique actions and attacks at launch. She’ll need them too, as MIGHTREYA includes 38 levels and 24 enemy types, bosses included. The monster faction Rasetsuten is featured in the demo trailer, which includes four high-level threats that Reya will encounter over the course of the game.

With regard to the Japanese voices, Anna Nagase (Ushio Kofune in Summer Time Rendering, Riko Amanai in Jujutsu Kaisen) provides the voice of Reya. She is joined by Sumire Morohoshi (Tine Chelc in Fate/strange Fake) as Rio, Sayaka Kinoshita (Mirko in My Hero Academia) as the antagonist Shura, Yoko Hikasa (Yoh Asakura in Shaman King, Rias Gremory in High School DxD) as the hero Chiyoda, and Kenta Miyake (All Might in My Hero Academia, Muhammad Avdol in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure) as the hero Captain. Hōchū Ōtsuka (Jiraiya in Naruto, Mont Blanc Noland in One Piece) serves as the game’s narrator.

While MIGHTREYA was first announced in 2024, the game has been in development for nearly four years. Based on a stream of playtests and this new demo, it looks like it is on track to meet its revised 2026 deadline

MIGHTREYA is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PC (Steam). The demo has a separate Steam page, which can be found here
