Model who inspired Tsukihime heroine Arcueid cosplays the character 25 years later

Amanda Dyer, the Candian model who is thought to be the real-life inspiration behind Tsukihime's main heroine, recently revealed her Arcueid cosplay.

It’s been over 25 years since Type-Moon’s original Tsukihime was released on Windows. Similarly, it has taken fans almost as many years to finally find the inspiration behind the game’s main heroine Arcueid Brunestud – a Canadian fashion model by the name of Amanda Dyer. While Dyer has taken the role of Arcueid’s real-life counterpart in stride since discovering the connection, a recent X post showed her finally donning the character’s iconic look from the Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- remake series.

Unlike Arcueid’s original attire – a white long-sleeved shirt, a long purple skirt, and black boots, her look in the remake swaps her bottoms for a short navy skirt, black tights, and long brown boots. While Dyer has previously mentioned on her webpage that she has Arcueid’s original outfit in her closet, it seems she opted for the character’s more recent look, though she skipped the tights.

Dyer’s connection to Arcueid was discovered last year, after Reddit users conducted an extensive investigation based on a 2001 chat between Tsukihime creators Kinoko Nasu, Okashige (OKSG), and Takashi Takeuchi. With nothing to go off of but Takeuchi’s statement that he based Arcueid’s design on an “unnamed foreign model that he found in a Japanese fashion magazine,” they eventually found Dyer, who was modeling for the magazine SPUR at the time.

Dyer has since had countless Tsukihime fans reach out to her. Having been moved by their stories, she took it upon herself to read up on the series’ lore, characters, and plot, with the help of links from some very helpful fans. Their appreciation extends to her recent cosplay, with comments expressing how long they waited for her Arcueid cosplay and how happy Takashi Takeuchi would be to see it if he were active on social media. Given the opportunity, she hopes to do more cosplay of Arcueid in the future
