“Just type as you’re told, don’t think.” Horror typing game Dyping Escape gets free Steam demo

Published by PLAYISM and developed by Heaviside Creations, horror indie typing game Dyping Escape now has a free Steam demo.

To coincide with Steam’s Typing Fest, PLAYISM has released a free demo of its upcoming psychological horror typing game Dyping Escape. Developed by indie creator Heaviside Creations, the title has you following the instructions of a game master under the guise of “improving your typing skills.”

Disclosure: The publisher of this game, PLAYISM, is part of Active Gaming Media, the owner of this website.

The demo includes the game’s first chapter, giving players a glimpse into the game master’s twisted mind. After signing a contract, you discover that whatever you type down becomes reality. Offering your “left eye” prompts the game master to take it for themselves, heavily altering your vision. Likewise, you may also be ordered to kill certain characters against your will.

The game master will also force you to type commands that allow them to “access” your computer. It can be quite jarring to see your specs posted in-game, as is having your mouse cursor become immobilized.

Your only saving grace comes in the form of a scrawny cat, who awakens from another ancient game and appears on the corner of your screen. With its help, maybe you’ll be able to break the contract and take back control from the game master.

Dyping Escape is an enhanced version of Heaviside Creations’ Dyping, a free horror typing game available on unityroom. It features enhanced gameplay mechanics and a deeper story, increasing the immersion of the original.

Dyping Escape is set to release in 2026 for Windows (Steam). The free demo is now available.
