Rune Factory developer Marvelous sees record-high game revenue and return to profitability thanks to Guardians of Azuma and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar

In its third fiscal quarter, Marvelous saw game-related revenue at an all-time high, with operating profit rising 89% year-on-year.

Marvelous has reported that its game-related revenue increased by 159% (to $61.775 million USD) year-on-year during the third fiscal quarter (October to December 2025). Operating profits went up 87% (to $7.285 million USD) during the same period, as reported by Gamebiz. True to the company’s forecasts last year, the release of new titles, particularly Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, has allowed it to bounce back following several losses.

After reporting losses for the last two fiscal quarters, Marvelous’s game sector has finally returned to a state of profitability, simultaneously achieving the highest revenue since it was founded, according to Gamebiz. In addition to Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar’s initial release sales, the games’ subsequent updates and additional content have contributed to their popularity and longevity.

When it comes to mobile games, Marvelous’s existing titles, such as Dolphin Wave, were reported to be doing well thanks to their anniversary events. However, its most recent title, Browser Sangokushi Ten, has gotten off to a slower start than expected since launching in October 2025.

Looking forward, Marvelous plans to continue boosting revenue margins by developing new entries in its existing franchises and creating indie games. Its first order of business is releasing the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma on February 13. The studio is also hard at work on the next title in the Senran Kagura franchise, a mobile game tentatively titled “Project N”.
