Japanese eroge developer forced to deny bizarre false claim of “upcoming anime adaptation” made by its own staff member

Japanese eroge developer HULOTTE announced that claims about Ore no Hitomi de Maruhadaka! Fukachi na Mirai to Misukasu Vision getting an anime adaptation were false.

Japanese adult visual novel developer HULOTTE announced on January 31 that they have no official plans to make an anime adaptation of their game Ore no Hitomi de Maruhadaka! Fukachi na Mirai to Misukasu Vision (known as Orefukachi). This comes after an anime adaptation announced was shared on X by an illustrator officially affiliated with HULOTTE. On February 2, the artist posted an apology, explaining that their claims were fabricated.

Akane Ikegami, who worked as the character designer and CG illustrator for Orefukachi made an X post on January 31 announcing an upcoming anime adaptation of the visual novel. The announcement was accompanied by a celebratory illustration by the artist, and the post directed to what seemed to be an “official” X account made to promote the anime. As Ikegami explained in a related post, the illustration was commissioned by an anime production committee.

Only a couple of hours after the announcement, HULOTTE made an official statement explaining that information about an “anime adaptation” was all false, and that, at the time of writing, they had no plans to produce an Orefukachi anime. Therefore, in case an anime adaptation is actually in production, it is being done without permission from the IP owners, HULOTTE explained. The studio noted that they would be looking into the incident, and advised members of the Orefukachi development team, as well as other affiliated creators and voice actors to immediately refer to HULOTTE in case they had been contacted by the aforementioned “anime production committee.” The statement led some fans to speculate that Ikegami may have been dragged into a phishing scheme, though no such thing has been officially confirmed at the time of writing.

Two days later, Ikegami’s official apology note revealed that the “anime adaptation announcement” was fabricated and made of their own accord without previously consulting with HULOTTE or its parent company CUFFS. The artist states that the problematic announcement was only an expression of their “wish to make an anime adaptation come true,” and has no basis in reality. Regarding their statement about being contacted by a production committee, Ikegami clarified that it was also fabricated. The suspicious Orefukachi anime X account was also apparently created and operated by Ikegami themselves.
